More info This month the Free Cinema School invites Daniela Swarowsky to present films from her series ‘Messages from Paradise – About the permanent longing for elsewhere’. A discussion with Daniela Swarowsky will follow the screening.

Daniela Swarowsky is an Austrian artist and cultural producer living and working in Rotterdam and Berlin. Her work deals with the role of art in gentrification processes as well as examining issues of migr……ation. Over the past eight years she has developed a series of art-projects related to questions of migration and identity. Her trilogy, ‘Messages from Paradise – About the permanent longing for elsewhere’, is a series of fictive dialogues between Egypt-Austria (#1), Morocco-Holland (#2), and Turkey-Germany (#3) around imaginaries of a better life and myths associated with migration. Daniela is the artistic director of ZiM foundation, a founding member of Wolfart project space where she is running the ‘ALL EARS concert series’, and a member of NAC foundation, all based in Rotterdam. This year she started a new curatorial position with ZMO (Zentrum Moderner Orient) and Künstlerhaus Kreuzberg/Bethanien.

Daniela Swarowsky’s presentation has been facilitated by Statement In Motion, an initiative by Karem Ibrahim and Metod Blejec.
